Raymond Elliott, Interim Artistic Director

Oregon native Raymond Elliott was a previous Artistic Director of Satori.  He is the founding Artistic Director of Confluence, the Willamette Valley LGBT Chorus.  Raymond’s goals are to encourage people of all ages to express themselves through music, develop their skills and self-esteem, and discover the joy of musical expression.  An active arranger of choral music, Raymond fosters a soulful rhythmic style that resonates with singers and audiences alike.

​In addition to his work with Confluence, Raymond is the Director of Music Ministries at Ainsworth United Church of Christ, a member of the American Choral Directors Association, the Unitarian Universalist Musician Network, and the United Church of Christ Musicians Association.  He holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Portland State University and a Master of Conducting from University of Oregon.

Ben Milstein, Concert and Rehearsal Accompanist

Ben Milstein is a Portland-based pianist, composer and teacher with a wide range of musical interests and experience. In addition to accompanying Satori, he also works with several other local choirs and performing ensembles. His original music has been released on several international record labels. Ben currently maintains a studio of private piano students as well as a roster of students at the Hoffman Academy of Music. Ben has studied the Tubman Approach to piano since 1986, with Robert Durst as well as other faculty members of the Golandsky Institute. He holds an MFA in New Media Composition from Bard College and studied Music Performance at the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music.

Susan Dorn, Former Artistic Director

From 2004 through March 2025, Susan Dorn led the Satori Men’s Chorus as Artistic Director. The Chorus thanks Susan for her many years of dedicated service.
